Privacy Policy

Ode (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates odesongs.com. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. We've written it in plain English, not legalese.

1. What information we collect

Information you give us

• Song inputs: the recipient's name, occasion, your shared memories, desired feeling, genre preference, and any special phrase you include. These are used solely to generate your song.
• Email address: used to deliver your song, send order confirmations, and (if you opt in) occasional product updates. We never sell your email.
• Payment information: your card details are handled entirely by Dodo Payments. We never see or store your card number, CVV, or full billing address.
• Recipient email: if you choose to send the song directly to the recipient, we use their email to deliver the song link. We do not add them to any mailing list.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: pages visited, button clicks, and time spent on the site. Used to improve the product. Collected via our analytics (Supabase + BigQuery, first-party only, no third-party ad trackers).
• Device and browser data: browser type, operating system, screen size, and IP address. Used for security and to optimize the experience across devices.
• Cookies: we use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a cookie to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

2. How we use your information

• To generate your personalized song using Claude AI (Anthropic) and ElevenLabs AI
• To process your payment via Dodo Payments
• To deliver your song and any physical add-ons (keepsake book, plaque, card)
• To send you your order confirmation and song delivery emails
• To provide customer support if you contact us
• To improve the product; we may review anonymised song inputs in aggregate to improve lyric quality
• To send you occasional product updates if you opt in (you can unsubscribe any time)

We do not use your personal memories or song inputs for AI training without your explicit consent.

3. Third-party processors

We share data with the following trusted processors only to the extent necessary to deliver the service:

We do not sell your data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.

4. How long we keep your data

• Song data and audio files: kept for 12 months after creation so you can re-access and re-download. After that, they are permanently deleted.
• Keepsake book photos: photos you upload for the hardcover keepsake book are stored only for as long as fulfillment requires, and are permanently deleted from our servers once your book is confirmed as printed and shipped.
• Order records: kept for 7 years for financial record-keeping (legal requirement).
• Email addresses: kept until you request deletion or unsubscribe from all communications.
• Usage analytics: aggregated and anonymised; individual events deleted after 90 days.

5. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access: request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate information
• Deletion: ask us to delete your account, song data, and personal information (subject to legal retention obligations)
• Portability: request your data in a machine-readable format
• Opt out: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any email

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@odesongs.com with the subject “Privacy Request”. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

We use only essential cookies:

• Session cookie: keeps you signed in. Expires when you close your browser or after 7 days.
• Preference cookie: remembers your wizard progress so you don't lose your inputs if you navigate away.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any third-party tracking cookies (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no TikTok Pixel).

7. Children's privacy

Ode is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for material changes, notify you by email. Continuing to use Ode after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
